Thank you for responding. This is very interesting.
Charles Melton Jones was born in Dekalb County and throughout my research I have been told that he once served that County as Sheriff, however I have no proof of that. His Jones family were pioneers of Dekalb County and his mother was Nancy Lena Lively. The Lively's were pioneers of Dekalb. Also connected were the Chesnuts (have seen the name listed as Chestnut), Miller & Quarles.
He was married ro Sarah Carroll (related to signer of Declarations of Independence).
Does this information help decide which C.M. Jones belongs to which military record?
