James Stone,50th Infantry of Georgia

I have just learned my ancestor James Stone, born in 1838 in Georgia and probably in DeKalb County (Stone Mountain or nearby)was the only James Stone age 22 on 1860 census of Coffee Co, GA or any other county in GA. He was living with a cousin named John and an uncle named Marvil (or Marble age 60, b. SC) He was younger bro of Wesley Stone, Co. G, 56th GA, the older brother of Francis and William Pitchford Stone (my GGF) of Co. C, AL 28th Inf Regt. The CW Soldiers and Sailors System shows James in Co. C. 50th Georgia. This Rgt recruited largely from So. Georgia but some of Co. C was from NW GA-DeKalb Co in early 1862. How can I confirm whether he enl in 1862 in DeKalb or Coffee County? Thanks. bob
