Re: James Stone,50th Infantry of Georgia

Gary, and Tom: Thanks, you all. Haven't checked Irwin Co,GA but 1850 census Forsyth Co shows our James Stone 12 years old, making him 22 in 1860 b.1838. I may still be barking up the wrong tree--unless that James J.Stone in Irwin Co had his birth year 1828 wrong-typing error.

Tom: Heritage Quest research shows the only James Stone (with or without middle initial) including both AL and GA, and who was 22 years old in 1860 comes down to only one person. He is shown living in seperate household, single, in Coffee Co, GA.

However, our family historian claims our James was also badly wounded in the Civil War without other details. The present evidence, in all its entirety, still strongly suggests our James was in Co. C, 50th Regt of GA from Coffee Co down in South GA, or was among the few from north GA DeKalb Co.

Months ago, national archives told me from meager facts I sent them that our James enl in Whitfield Co, GA,lost a leg at Jonesboro, and sent me his records. As GA archives may have more details, I'' do a little more research before ordering when I am positive of right regt. bob
