Re: Company G, 1st Reg't GA Inf. (Olmstead's)

James Henry Cassady (various Spelling) was born Feb.18,1824 in WA CO TN. Moved to GA abt 1855.
He is not listed in the 1860 federal census for Dade County.
It is my understanding that some of the 1860 census for Dade were destroyed, however, land records show his family bought property there in 1859. Family history states that after J H Cassady was killed in the Civil War in GA his orphan daughter, along with her grandparents, left GA during/or at the end of the war. This all the proof I have of Georgia residencey.

Secondly, I'm finding that Olmstead's unit is quite complex. So, I'm wondering what reg't Jas.H. Cassady (killed at Morris Island) was originally with. I have searched a number of the regiments that were under Colonel C.H. Olmstead and he, JH Cassady, is not listed.

Does anyone have GA 1st infantry records for Floyd, company G, & Walker Counties. I'm thinking if this Jas.H Cassady is my ancestor, he may have joined up at a county near Dade?
Thank you for you interst in my post.
