Historical Walking Tour of Missionary Ridge

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This message is to announce the Historical Walking Tour on Missionary Ridge on November 19, 2006 at 1:00 PM. I in conjunction with the Chief Historian of the Chickamauga- Chattanooga National Military Park will be walking the terrain where Federal Major General William T. Sherman attacked the positions of Confederate Major General Patrick R. Cleburne and Major Carter L. Stevenson's position on the northern end of Missionary Ridge on the morning and afternoon of November 25, 1863. The 39th Georgia Volunteer Infantry Regiment was a regiment of Cumming's Brigade, Stevenson's Division and was heavily engaged in this battle.

Where/When: Rendezvous will be at the intersection of Lightfoot Mill Road and North Crest Road. The tour will begin promptly at 1:00 PM.

It is recommended that you wear walking shoes for varying terrain, dress for the season, and be prepared for inclement weather. We will be walking approximately 1.5 miles.

This is one event of the Anniversary Weekend Activities. I will post additional information later.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Respectfully,

Gerald D. Hodge, Jr.
