Re: Chenault Gold of Washington, GA

Mr. Sturkey,Mr. Bray and Lyle... I have learned more from you all in the past few days than I have leaned in hours of searching the internet and reading books!!! I thank you very much! I would love to meet you sometime when I am in the area, which will be after Christmas this year.

Graball...I have heard was a contraction. It was said that when the gold was stolen, some was dropped on that road. And it was like Grab All you can. Meaning grab as much gold as you can. Got to admit, it makes sense that that is where the name came from.

Are you saying that Lisbon was on Graball road? The country store you refer to on same road? I have been all over those woods for years, never seen any remnants of a town or anything. And now they are developing that area with big houses etc. The whole area almost has been clear cut and bull-dozed for the Stillwater Cove housing development.

I need to find some old maps of that area. I would like to know more about the Fort you mentioned as well that is now submerged. Submerged in Clark Hill lake right? My wife's parents have owned property down there for 40 years. I have never heard the mention of the fort.
Guess I need to visit the local libraries in the area to look at maps etc. I have been able to find what I am looking for on line. Also the Google Earth program (satellite imaging program) does not have refined maping of that area that is viewable. Yet anyways....Terra Client does, but I cant make out anything I can recognize at all.
