Hello Roger.

This southern compatriot was felled in action at Burkeville, Virginia on April 6, 1865. He was subsequently captured and made a prisoner-of-war. His wound proved mortal, and he died on May 8, 1865 while a patient in Carver General Hospital, Washington, DC.

Field was a resident of Habersham County, Georgia, and had enlisted in the 24th Georgia in June 1862.
