There are 3 possibilites for Sgt. John H. Cooper. He is possibly buried as an unknown in Spotsylvania Confederate Cemetery. He also might be in the Confederate Cemetery in Fredericksburg, which is a short distance from the battlefield at Spotsylvania CH. He is listed as KIA which also means that it is possible that he was buried in place by a Union burial detail after the entire Georgia Brigade was forced to retreat across a swampy creek bottom. Numerous 35th Georgians who fell there were left behind. I do not show his burial spot in a roster of the 35th Georgia and I have been all over the Spotsylvania Confederate Cemetery and he is not in a marked grave there.
