Mr. Hodge: In the May 2009 Letters Section of America's Civil War magazine, a retired Marine, David Crow, of Clovis, California, posted information about his Confederate ancestor, George Washington Hemmon, of Walker County, Georgia. According to Mr. Crow, Hemmon enlisted in the Walker County Light Guards, which became Co. F of the 39th, your area of expertise.
