Joel was my great-great-uncle and he died at Fredericksburg, Virginia on April 8, 1862. I haven't been able to find out if he was sick or wounded. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about him.

He married Amanda Melvina Shadix/Shaddix on February 12, 1857 in Campbell County, Georgia.

Other members of my family who were in Company E were my great-great-grandfather Green B Shadix/Shaddix, my great-grandfather John J Shadix/Shaddix, my great-great-uncle Henderson Thomas and my great-great-uncle George Diggs.

Joel and Henderson were the brothers of my great-grandmother Dorcas Mariam Thomas. Dorcas married John J Shadix/Shaddix the first cousin of Amanda Melvina Shadix/Shaddix
George Diggs was the husband of their sister Hulda M Thomas.
