James A. Bennett, enlisted as a Private in Company D, 14th Georgia Infantry, July 9, 1861 in Cherokee County, Georgia/Bells C. G., afflicted with Lumbago/Chronic Rheumatismus spending a considerable amount of time in Richmond hospitals as a patient and perhaps as a nurse/attendent there and at Lynchburg, discharged by reason of being over 40 years of age, July 12, 1864, age 50, born in New York City, Harness Maker, he was paid $64 traveling allowance from Richmond, the place of discharge to Atlanta, Georgia, the place of enrolment. signed at Petersburg.
