I live in Union County, Blairsville, Georgia at the foot of Blood Mountain. Perhaps that is where the 6th GA CAV, Co F took it's name?? Blood Mountain contains much of the Southern part of the Applachian Trail. Lots of strange
things happen on that mountain and anyone with any sense will not go there alone.
Just a bit of folk lore to pass on! We don't know why it is called Blood Mountain, probably a Cherokee translation.
