Re: Bryans' Georgia Brigade
In Response To: Bryans' Georgia Brigade ()

Bryce,
Based on my research for the history of the 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment, there was not a lot of movement of Goode Bryan's Georgia Brigade between June 18 and July 22, 1864. First of all, Bryan had removed himself from command of the brigade at Cold Harbor due to illness, and Colonel James P. Simms was in temporary command. The brigade was manning the lines around Petersburg. My book, Wiregrass to Appomattox, gives what little description I could find of the movements. On June 23rd the brigade was pulled out of the line and placed in reserve "near the Weldon Road." It remained there for about a month, occasionally "marching down the Weldon railroad in quest of the enemy". On July 23rd, the brigade was ordered from the area and headed toward Chaffin's Bluff. It was later involved in First Deep Bottom.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you find anything more.
Jim
