Re: Civil War travel north GA
Back in the late 1960s I shot film of Dent Myers' reenactment group for a movie that never got made, for lack of funds. There were some very good scenes, too. Sometimes it felt like Dent thought he was Stonewall Jackson! He did kind of favor him. The General is in the Kennesaw Railroad Museum, along with artifacts from thr old Glover Machine Works, which was on Atlanta Road in Marietta. My Granddad worked there many years, making small guage train engines, used in logging and sawmill operations, and on some old time carnival rides. My Dad started there when he was 13, but left and worked as a tool and die maker at Atlantic Steel Company, where Atlantic Station is now. The Battle of New Hope Church, and of Pickett's Mill have sites west of Marietta. North is Resaca, Tunnel Hill, Rocky Face, and some other small sites someone will mention. And of course, there is the Cyclorama in Grant Park, with it's famous painting. Again in the late '60s, We made a narrative for the Cyclorama, using Victor Jory, who was in town for a parade. He was Simon Legree in "Gone With the Wind". I don't know if they are still using his version. You could Google these names and get more information. Stan
