Re: 16th Infantry - "Danielsville Guard"

So that would make you my husband's cousin!

William Walker Fitts (b. 1842 Elbert County, GA; d. 12 May 1864) who was killed at Spotsylvania is my husbands gg grandfather. There is no marker for him at the confederate cemetery at Spotsylvania. I would at least like to have his name added to the online roster of the Confederate soldiers killed at Spotsylvania, but I have no idea how to go about getting that done. Does anyone have advice on how to get that done?

Here is some background for you:

Wm Walker's parents were Walker Fitts (may have gone by nickname Tandy) and Seiser Ann Edwards.

Before he was killed at Spotsylvania, William Walker Fitts (b. 1842 Elbert County, GA; d. 12 May 1864) married Elizabeth "Eliza" J. Bond (b. 10 March 1837; d. 20 June 1906) and had one child, John Franklin Fitts, who was my husband's great grandfather. He was deaf from the age of 18 months - a result of an illness. He was born with a propensity to ear infections (like my husband and his father) and by the time he was 5 years old, he was completely deaf. His father, William Walker Fitts was killed at Spotsylvania when he was only 3 years old. Eliza remarried and sent John Franklin Fitts to the Georgia School for the Deaf (Cave Springs, GA) It was a boarding school type arrangement where he learned to make and repair shoes and build furniture. According to my husband's father, John Franklin was basically raised by his uncle, Tandy Ray Fitts (b. 9 Sept 1850; d. 13 Dec 1921) who happened to be married to Isabella Fitts, his mother's sister.

Eventually, John Franklin Fitts (1862-1942) married Amanda Catherine Selman (1868-1950) 1885 Madison CO.GA. and had the following children: Ella, Era, William Lafayette, Leola, and Lola Mae.

My husband's grandparents are William Lafayette Fitts (b. 20 Oct. 1892 d. 16 Dec 1976) and Ethel Elizabeth Moore (b. 7 October 1895 in Habersham County Ga d Nov. 24, l980) They married 22 Oct. 1916 Madison County, GA. and had 12 children, including my husband's father.

How are you related? YOu said that Wm Walker was the brother of your gg grandfather. What was his name?
