I was invited to your dad's home last October to review the flag which I enjoyed very much. It is the only example of an Augusta Depot battle flag with a sheild bearing the unit designation on it. All of the others typically have cut and sewn white cotton numbers and letters, like the flag of the 39th Georgia in the county museum at Dalton, GA.
I have known about this flag for years and have a file on it with information from descendants of several of its color bearers from the war. What a wonderful family heirloom and glad that it went to this fine museum.
