You're correct about the 6th Georgia Cavalry not being involved in the fighting on Lookout Mountain. At that time the regiment was serving under Longstreet's command near Knoxville.
My brother (who just lost his wife two days ago) once lived near Craven House on the Lookout Mountain battleground. The rocks, trees and steep slopes make it no place for a cavalryman.
