I agree the state archives has a collection of "inmate", i.e. patient, records for most years. Depending on the year, you may find some biographical info and detailed medical info. My gr. gr. Grandfather was there in 1919. There was a wealth of information just on the one page for his application. Most, if not all, is on microfilm.
