Enlisted on 12/18/1861 as a Private.
On 12/18/1861 he mustered into "D" Co. GA 5th Inf State Troops
He was Mustered Out on 4/11/1862
On 5/10/1862 he mustered into "E" Co. GA 59th Infantry
He died on 5/15/1863 at Petersburg, VA Hospital

Bass for 3 years, recorded on the December 1862 Regimental Return as Company Cook, last recorded present on the companies Jan & Feb, 1865 muster, "Deserted from the enemy" and taken into custody February 28, 1865, recorded on a register "of refugees and rebel deserters, Provost Marshal General,Washington D. C. March 6, 1865" received from the Army of the James, "Taken the Oath, Transportation furnished to New York City," turned over to Provost Marshal at City Point, Virginia March 1, 1865, "Oath not administered"
