In the compiled service records, there is a Capt. A. J. Watters listed in company C of the 13th GA Cavalry Regiment, originally known as the 16th GA Cavalry Battalion. There is also a Captain A. J. Walters listed as being in this company. Walters and Watters appear to be the same man. I believe all of the records for Capt. Watters are incorrectly filed under the name of Capt. Walters. This error probably occurred when information was being trancribed from original records onto the index cards found in the compiled service records. There are many index cards in the Walters file where the copyists wrote his last name as Walters, but there are also many copies of actual original documents in this same file, signed by the captain, where it can clearly be seen that this man was actually Watters.
