I've read that, when the 12 regiments were called for in 1862, they were pulled from the military districts. My ancestor, Henry Jones, lived on the border of Floyd/Chattooga county and enlisted in Summerville instead of Rome. He probably lived as close to Summerville as he did Rome (he is found in the Dirt Town District of the 1860 Floyd Census). Would the reason be that he was in that military district? His neighbor also enlisted in Chattooga county (for a different regiment)but returned to Floyd.

Any enlightenment on the call-ups from that 1862 enlistment would be appreciated.
