C.M. Broach is also listed is a Corporal in D Company, 12th Bn, GA Cav. In both cases, no dates were provided.

I have Charles McElroy Broach living in Sumter County, GA in 1860; Stewart County, GA in 1870; & Franklin County, TX in 1880. He also managed to father children who were born in 1861, 1864 and 1865. Your explanation that the state guards were supposed to stay fairly close to home would explain that. I had previously excluded him from my list of possible veterans b/c of the childrens birth years, but if his company *did* stay close, then visiting home from time to time may have been possible.
