A. So . . . the State Guards . . . how accurate were their portrayals in Cold Mountain? The few Home Guard members in the movie were basically local bullies/cowards who didn't want to actually go to war -- they just had a legal reason to pick on the locals while the men were off to war. How much "creative license" did the book/movie take?

B. After looking at the dates, is it possible my C.M. Broach was listed as absent in Nov/Dec63 in the 29th Bn muster b/c he had double-enlisted and joined the 12th Bn in Aug63?
