My gg gf Joseph A. Dennis is in a militia list for Pike County, 22nd Senatorial District, 581st Militia District. My question is this: if it shows him with an exemption (hernia), does that mean he was not serving in any militia at all? Or does it mean he is actually in a local militia because he was exempt from regular military service? Thanks for any advice.
