Dan, I just came across another bit of information on Cooper Bennett-he is indeed listed in Co. K, 11th GA. Cavalry, regular army, also, there are three other Cooper Bennett listings with this--one in Co. A, 3rd Battlion, Ga. Infantry, one in Van Den Corput's Company, GA. Light Artillery, and one in the 4th Regiment Ga. Cavalry (State Guards). This may or may not be the same person but it was common for soldiers, for a number of reasons, to join other units during the war.
