Francis Marion Park, 22nd Georgia Regt

Francis Marion Park, born Oct. 17, 1848 in Pike County, lost both father and mother in December 1864 and January 1865, resp. They had recently moved to Jasper County GA, and eventually F. M. Park became a ward of my ancestor, Carrington Pitts of Monticello GA. Francis M. Park appears on a hospital register of Ocmulgee Hospital, Macon GA, for April 14, 1865. He is listed as a member of Co. "G", 22nd Georgia Regiment, a command which had recently surrendered at Appomattox. F. M. Park also appears on a register of Confederate soldiers paroled by Federal cavalry in Georgia during the month of April 1865.

Just after his 21st birthday, this young man married one of Carrington's daughters. He died in 1876.

I'm curious about this orphan's war record and why he might have joined this particular Georgia regiment.
