Atlanta-Local Defense Troops- May 1864

Seeking information pertaining to local troops raised in Atlanta in May 1864; for defense of the city. By order of the Mayor, all
men between the ages of 16 and 60 were to be armed and equipped and for organized into companies; for defense of homes.

May 9th- men ordered to appear at city hall

May 17th- troops organized for local defense;inspected on Marietta street under direction of Marcus J.

May 23rd- Mayor ordered all men not in the army;to appear on May 26th to be organized into companies

Any data on these companies(any known rosters?) who were they commanded by? Did they participate in the battle of Atlanta?

My ancestor was formerly a member of the Fulton County Minutemen Association(Nov.1860) and served for about 4 days with
the "Committee of Safety"(April 19th,1861); joined Atlanta company "Jackson Guards"(ca.April 24th,1861) resigned in October
1863(19th Ga.) returned to Atlanta. I'am curious to learn more about the local defense troops of Atlanta(May'64); as my ancestors were most likely members. As well as volunteer city firemen during this time. Sherman's artillery fired shells into the homes of the
citizens of Atlanta(as with the home of my ancestors) Were among about 50 families that refused to leave the city during the siege.
