There is a Pvt. R. S. Young (Perhaps I or someone else mistook an "L" for an "S)
Record is sketchy, which is typpical for this unit.
Enlisted Sept. 20, 1862 at Dalton by Maj. Owen. (This is when Avery's company was back in North Georgia and becoming the 23rd Ga. Cav. Btn. It did not become a regiment until early 1863 in Middle Tennessee.)
Captured Dec 4, 1863. No place shown. (The regiment was in East Tennessee with Longstreet at that time).
No record of his disposition, though I suspect one probably exists somewhere.
I found my gggrandfather listed under 5 names in 5 different units.
