34th GA, Co. D - "Fuller Guards"

Here's a new one to me. Searching the old Georgia newspapers yielded this:

"June 8, 1862 Southern Confederacy - The "Fuller Guards". This is the name adopted by Company "D" of Col. J.A.W. Johnson's regiment, now at Camp McDonald. The name was adopted, by unanimous vote of the Company, as a testimonial of their appreciation of the great energy and good judgement displayed by our fellow citizen, Wm. A. Fuller, in his chase after, and capture of the engine thieves. It is a fitting testimonial of the appreciation of the vast importance of that service, and the untold amount of mischief to the Confederate States, which was thereby prevented. The Company is a very large one, containing 120 men, from Walker and Catoosa Counties. The following are the officers: G.W. Blackwell, Captain. C.D. Price, 1st Lieutenant. T.B. Cochran, 2d Lieutenant. R.W. Jones, 3d Lieutenant."

This is the first time I've seen this Company with a name. Also, the paper lists them as being from Walker and Catoosa but I thought most of these men were from Chattooga County.

Has anyone else seen this Company called the "Fuller Guards" or have additional information about them with this name? My ancestor, Henry L. Jones, was a member of this Company as well.

thanks,
Scott Jones
