Correcting the record!

As many of you know, I recently found documentation of my gg-grandfather's service, one Volney Willoughby, in the the 5th Georgia Infantry, Co. A (Clinch Rifles). The record is from a casualty/hospital list in the "Unfiled Papers and Slips belonging to Confederate Units" portion of the NARA microfilms.

Here is my question or a request for a recommendation for myself and others who also have ancestors with documented service, who are not included on the unit microfilms for specific units. What would be the best way to make sure that his service is permanently recorded for reasonably easy access by others? Since Volney was killed at the battle of Chickamauga, I've thought of sending the record to the park and asking that it be included in the unit file for the 5th Georgia. I presume, I might contact all of the online resources and ask that Volney's name be added, perhaps with an asterisk and the source of the info. Of course, the microfilm will not be altered and I doubt the NARA will do anything "official" to include him, but I want to make sure that others researching this unit or doing family genealogy will avoid the many years of searching that I have had to do.

Please let me hear some ideas to make sure Volney is remembered and to help others in a similar situation.
