Re: Co. H 4th, Georgia Cavalry (Avery's) in Tenn.

The 2nd Lt's name was W.T. Arnall. I believe he was a grand uncle of Georgia governor Ellis Arnall. My g-g-grandmother's name was Mary Ann (Spence) Higgins. Kind of a story there also. Three Higgins brothers married three sisters of the Spence family. All three brothers served & two died during the war.

The mention of the Sequatchie Valley made me wonder if my ancestor was part of Wheeler's raid on Union supply lines, but that occurred after Chickamauga, correct?

The Lt's report indicated that my ancestor was captured a few days before the Battle of Chickamauga in an action where the Confederates were routed. He mentioned Davis' Gap; I wonder if he meant Davis' Crossroads?

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows enough about Co. H's battle record to shed some more light on this.
