Re: Co. C. 50th Regiment, GA, Coffee Guards

George,
Thanks for responding to the inquiry from Debra Mizell about her 50th Georgia ancestors.
In researching the history of the 50th Georgia for my book, Wiregrass to Appomattox: The Untold Story of the 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment, CSA, one error from Henderson's Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-1865, that seems to carry over is the reference that men were recruited from "De Kalb" county. Actually, it was Decatur County, which is located in the same South Georgia Wiregrass area as the other counties making up the 50th. In addition, Company D (Valdosta Guards) was made up of men from Lowndes and Echols counties because Echols did not have enough recruits to make up their own company.
