Gentlemen,

I would like to reinforce Alan's comment on the illegibility of the lists. When you look at the microfilm you can probably bet that the original at the National Archives is also illegible. What I had to do with the 39th Georgia (Consolidated) muster rolls was to take a photograph (no flash) and then manipulate the digital picture to bring out the writing. This was a learning experience for me and a little modern technology ramp up.

The likely reason someone has not done a "list" is that it would take an incredible amount of resources and time to do it. I am still messing with my data. It took me about four hours with just one company.

One added piece of information. Unlike the ANV, the AoT was not in one singular location at the time of the surrender. The Bennett Farm was the site of Johnston and Sherman's negotiation but the units were scattered all over the place at the time of the surrender. It was not as formal as in Virginia. They were in Bush Hill, Bloomington, Charlotte, Concord, Greensboro, High Point, Hillsborough, Jamestown, Lexington, Salisburg, Trinity College, NC and Chester, SC. A great book to refer to is "This Astounding Close: The Road to Bennett Place," by Mark Bradley.

I hope this helps.

Respectfully,
