Mr. Martin ---- Thank you so much for your very quick reply to my inquiry. A good bit of information. I now need to find a period map that would show me the geographic points mentioned in your reply. I do believe that Nathan Clay was Eli Clay's son. Not sure yet about the other one. Just FYI -- The Battle of Atlanta actually broke out at the intersection of what is now called Memorial Drive and "Clay Street" that led to the Jesse Clay plantation. I sense that my ancestors were in some way related to Jesse Clay but haven't figured it out yet. My direct ancestors (per the census of 1860 and 1870 lived in the general area. I smile when I think that the Battle for Atlanta actually broke out on my ancestors' property. Thank again for your work and information regarding my request. It is greatly appreciated.
