10th Ga. Cavalry State Guards

does anyone know if there are any records or reference to the 10th Ga. Cavalry Bttn. State Guards being activated as Sherman's army approached the Cassville- Atlanta area ? I have not found any but family history says that the men in the unit in the Cassville area were activated to help fight against Sherman's army as they approached Cassville. One of my gg grandfathers lived in and was a merchant in Cassville and he and his 15 Year old son were in Co. D. Again, I have found no records that they were activated, only family passed down history of the war in the area, and that may be all that it is, but would love to know if anyone has any info on this. Thanks everyone
