Lt. Col. E. A. Nash

I am trying to find information on Col. Nash and Cook's Brigade, particularly in regard to it fighting with Eugene Waggaman's brigade of Louisiana Tigers. It is my understanding Nash assumed command on March 25, 1865, when Cook was wounded at Fort Stedman and that he led the brigade until the surrender. I've been informed of a battlefield note scribbled by Nash to Waggaman in which Nash says he has pushed the enemy back several hundred yards but needs Waggaman to come up to support him. Nash signed the note as commanding Cook's Brigade but there is no date. I assume the note would have to have been written between March 25 and April 9, 1865.

Waggaman led the attack at Fort Stedman so I don't think the note would come from that battle. I know the Tigers attacked at Appomattox on the morning of April 9 but what few sources I've seen indicate they were in the front and not in support. Does anyone know if Nash's men were in that last attack at Appomattox or if Nash might have temporarily commanded Cook's brigade earlier in the war? Thanks for any information.
