Patrick,
Take notice on the map; to locate" Artillery Batt." camp row C
Right of the flag and left of the Brigade Staff list.
My ancestors were members of Company B "Jackson Guards" also from Fulton County. This unit was part of the 2nd Regiment Infantry. They were at Camp McDonald June 11-August 5/6,1861. In late July, the entire brigade had a mock battle and parade for the Govenor and attending civilians. The type of uniform issued at Camp McDonald; were gray shell jackets, gray trousers/black stripe, gray kepi.
Try Google image search: "Camp McDonald" "Big Shanty" (both together)
The Brigade was trained by cadets from the nearby Georgia Military Institute; the
Camp McDonald booklet, that i mentioned before, contains a roster if the G.M.I. cadets that were encamped at Big Shanty withe the 4th Brigade.
An Act was created in 1864 by the State of Georgia; to repay the members of the disbanded 4th Brigade the other half of their pay that they were intitled, but only were given 1/2 pay when they left camp.
Hope this helps,
John
