38th Georgia Dekalb county Irish Americans

There is the Murphy guards of Dekalb count,y Georgia, and they are designated Co. A of the 38th. The 38th also trained at a camp Fitzpatrick or KirkPatrick in Dekalb county. Were they American born Irish? Were some them born in Ireland? Did a lot of Irish settle Dekalb county? There was also a Mcollough rifles of Co. D that broke off of co. D. Was the companies and camp just named for a few Irish guys, and there wasn't much Irish connection? Does anyone know the story on these guys?
Take care!!
Jack
