Letters Received by the Confederate AIGO M474

Through my research I know that there are several letters of interest in the NA microfilm series "Letters Received by the Confederate Adjutant and Inspector General" (M474). I am about to go to the Atlanta branch of the National Archives which has M410, the Index for the M474 series. From this I will get the ID numbers to enable me to find what I need the M474 series. Now the crazy thing is they (Atlanta) have the index rolls but not the M474 rolls to view or get a copy of the actual item you need! Therefore my question is what options (other than a visit to Washington DC) is there to get copies of the images from M474? There may be a lot of them.

Also my understanding is that some of these made it into the CSRs. Are the items marked in some way to know if they were used in a CSR?

Thanks
