Ephraim Bishop, Private, Company E, 2nd Regiment Georgia Reserves, enlisted April 1, 1864 at Atlanta, Ga. by Capt, Hubbard for the war, furloughed for 7 days June 12, 1864, captured July 1/3/8, 1864, at Sweet Water/Powder Springs, Ga., says he left his command with the intention of never returning,* forward from Nashville, Tenn. to Louisville, Ky., July 17, transferred to Camp Douglas, Ill, July 18, died of Pneumonia May 3, 1865, description, 47 year old Mechanic, blue eyes, black hair, dark complexion, 5’ 11”, resident of Watton [sp?], Georgia, believe his widow applied for pension January, 1892, his file consists of a War Department note regarding an inquiry from the Georgia Pension Commission dated February 9, 1916

* claims to have deserted Rebel army to avail himself of the Amnesty Proclamation
