Co. D 37th Ga Militia @ West Point

Hello,
This is my first post here. Im doing family research on my 2nd Great Grand Father William H. Carrington. He lived in Harris Co Ga. March 1861 he enlisted in Co. "D" 37th Ga Militia @ West Point Ga. I have a letter he wrote to the Gov. of Georgia on June 21 1862. In the letter he states that he was a brevetted Lieutenant. I also have seen his pension application. he did survive the war and was discharged at West Point in April 1865.
My question is, I cant find any information on his Regiment. in His letter he stated " when i return home" so that make me want to think that he wasn't in West Point Ga during the war. At the Georgia Archive building i found a record book " list of Ex-Confederate Soldiers living roll" that stated he was in Company "D" 36th Ga. Now maybe "36" is an error i don't know.
Does anyone know any info on the Regiment at West Point Ga?
Thank you!, Clint Carrington
