Re: What became of the 62nd Georgia cavalry

The 62nd GA cavalry was indeed broken up. The North Carolina companies became part of the 16th NC cavalry battalion officially, then later the 16th Cavalry battalion was reformed into the 75th NC Cavalry. Col. John Thomas Kennedy was my 4th great grandfather. Walter Clarke had a history of each NC regiment written and compiled into volumes. As my great grandfather was the commanding officer of he 16th NC cavalry/75TH NC cavalry, he wrote the details for those units, and goes into some detail about the designations.
