The year is wrong -- should be 1864.

Since the battlefield fell into Federal hands shortly after the fighting ended, I would expect that this man was placed in an unmarked trench with other Confederate dead. At least one photograph from Spotsylvania shows a row of Confederates collected for burial in this manner. Federals had no idea who the individuals were and simply buried them in the easiest way possible.
