Augusta Chronicle - "Confederate Department"

Archived scans of the Augusta Chronicle, at www.augustaarchives.com, announced the beginning of a regular series of articles by Confederate vets, titled "Confederate Department", on October 22, 1905. The series continues most Sundays through 1906 (although there are two large, 6-8 week gaps, that I'll guess has more to do with the scanning and posting process than the original series). The last occurance I found for the series was January 13, 1907. Coincident to Jan 1907, the size of the paper that is stored online drops from three 8-12 page sections, to one 8-12 page section. Did the series die, or is it just not with the online material? I have not checked film for this paper and time frame.

Has anyone else on this board been through this series? What I saw was not up to the level of the Atlanta Journal's series, but the usefulness varies with what one is looking for. My big question is if the series fizzled out in early 1907, or if, and how long, it continued

thanks,
