Re: Sebolt/Seabolt-11 GA Cavalry or 65 GA Infantry

There were actually three 11th GA Cavalry. Colonel Andrew Young’s 11th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry, Colonel Archibald Thompson MacIntyre’s 11th Regiment, Georgia State Guards Cavalry and Colonel James J. Findley’s 11th Regiment Ga. Militia Cavalry. I would say that your great-grandfather belonged to Col. Findley’s Regiment and sorry to say that there is very little info on this unit. Findley was 2nd Lt. with Co. D (Lumpkin Co.) 52 Inf. and rose to the rank of Major with the 52nd before taking command of the 11th Regiment Ga. Militia Cavalry. It based in Dahlonega and Findley used the old courthouse as his headquarters, which also served as a jail for deserters, bushwhackers and other military prisoners.
