Re: Robert W. Folsom - 14th Georgia Infantry

According to the NPS-CWSSS most of the Folsoms served in cavalry and infantry regiments from Georgia.

Nathaniel Folsom was born in 1756, Rowan County S.C. In 1765, Nathaniel and his parents, uncles and cousins moved to Georgia where they got some schooling. At the age of 19, Nathaniel Folsom moved to Pigeon Roost Mississippi where he married two Choctaw Indian women and established a trading post. Multiple marriages were permitted in the Choctaw Tribe. Nathaniel's two wives bore him 24 children, and 14 lived to adulthood. One of Nataniel Folsom's sons was Col. Sampson Folsom in command of the Choctaw Regiment, C.S.A. in Indian Territory.

The Folsoms and various Choctaw,Cherokee, and Chickasaw Indians intermarried so much that it is nearly impossible to sort them out.
