James W. Jones Promoted Captain [Dec. 22,] 1862, [to rank Oct. 15, 1862]. Absent without leave since Dec. 13, 1862; [dropped from the rolls Apr. 23, 1863]. Captured with Whitfield’s command near Huntsville, Ala., Oct. 13, 1863. Released at Johnson’s Island, Ohio, June 12, 1865.

Why not check one of Benning's regiments?
