The Georgia in the Civil War Message Board

Re: New (?) Book : CSA Hosp. Atlanta/Opelika

Gentlemen,

This book was published in 2005 by Mercer University Press. I found my copy at the Dalton Civil War Show back in February.

It covers Fairground Hospitals No. 1 & 2 only, NOT all the hospitals in Atlanta and Opelika. A whole lot of work could be additionally done but it is a good start. The CD is interesting. It is in Abode format and can be searched pretty easily. You can tell that Fairground Hospital No. 1 kept better records than No. 2.

The Stout Papers have barely been touched overall and NONE of the material that is from the records of the Fairground Hospitals is reflected in the Compiled Military Service Records for the regiment I research (39th Georgia).

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Respectfully,
