I cut-and-pasted that info from other sites on the web, but thank you for pointing out the omission and remembering these brave men. Some of my wife's ancestors were just behind Toombs position in Kemper's Brigade on the outskirts of Sharpsburg. Their little 57 man regiment (17th Virginia Inf) also made a heroic attempt to stop the Union onslaught.

It was a day when, as Chester Nimitz said, "Uncommon valor was a common virtue".
