Copies of individual service files for both Confederate and Federal soldiers can be ordered here. In my experience with records of "Galvanized Yankees" or any other ex-Confederate soldiers who switched sides, residence and/or birthplace is usually available, but nothing to indicate that the soldier belonged to any particular Confederate command.
